Can i really do it?

106%

I am sure that you will not be surprised to find out that last week, when I asked myself that question, Philippians 4:13 came to mind:
“I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”

I am grateful to God that whenever I face an important decision, He has a clear answer for me in His Word!

What was on my mind and why was I trying to answer the question above? I had been asked to go and help train God’s people in the Philippines.

Ferdinand thought that he would follow his family’s tradition and became a sailor, but God had something else in mind. He put in Ferdinand’s heart a deep love for children and helped him get trained in order to be able to teach children about God. Eventually, he became a CEF worker in his country. “Prayer is indeed the foundation of all things and God has His reasons for using us in mission, in children’s lives and for His glory!”, says Ferdinand.

He is only one of the 100 CEF workers in the Philippines who are eager to take the Good News to a population of 100 million people, out of whom 47.5% live with less than $2 per day. The main occupation in this part of the world is being a sailor. However, one needs money for that to be achieved, therefore many young people work as dustmen and quite a number of children are being trained to become soldiers. Only 5% of the population are evangelical Christians. And yet, the souls of these people are open to the Gospel and tens of thousands of children hear the Gospel in public schools, in open air meetings and camps.

CAN I REALLY …

Travel 9,255 km (12 hours by plane) in order to help missionaries evangelize children more efficiently? It’s a long and tiring journey, full of surprises (surely …). I will help train 20-25 workers, who will then teach the same course to their colleagues. It’s a course that will help our CEF colleagues promote the ministry they are involved in better and find prayer and financial support. To find out more about them, go here: goo.gl/oifyM5.

Help these people? I am not familiar with their culture or their attitude, I only know a little about their ministry, but I am ready to do what Paul asked Timothy to do: “… entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.” Besides teaching, I would like to visit a few Good News Clubs and to attend the National Conference of the 100 CEF workers. To find out more about their ministry, go here: goo.gl/4eHBCg

Gather all the resources needed for this trip? – money for 12 days of travelling, accommodation and food, that is 1,500 euro in total? Even though at the moment I haven’t got that money, I trust that the One who works all things in all people will take care of everything. If He called these people to evangelize children and called me to train them, surely He will call you too to help in some way.

I CAN:

  •             Prepare all the materials needed for the course – materials which will encourage and help these missionaries.
  •             Go on this trip.
  •             Train God’s people – I can tell them about you – about faithful friends, prayer partners and financial supporters who help me in my ministry. Being there, I can encourage them to trust that God will bring in their lives too, faithful people like you!

YOU CAN:

  •             Pray for me that God would give me wisdom as I prepare the materials, protection on the way and the ability to understand the people I will teach.
  •             Give for the financial needs of this trip.

I cannot do all these things by my power, but I believe that I will succeed by the power of Christ. I invite you to show the children of God in the Philippines that all things are possible through Christ, because He is the source of all our possessions and He is the One who can look after our needs.

Let us pass on God’s blessing in the Philippines!
