It’s a question, that you probably already know the answer to! In CEF, we truly believe in this ministry, because we believe that God really does work in and through the lives of children. Hundreds of children have heard the Word of God taught to them in a way that they can understand and many of them have taken the decision to follow the Lord Jesus as their Lord and personal Saviour. Actually, for sometime now, we have known that camp is used of God in the lives of children as through this ministry many children have chosen to follow God. It is true that children who attend camp have already heard the Gospel through Good News Clubs, but camp then becomes an excellent opportunity to take the decision that they have been thinking of taking for a while.
The video above is from a camp that is taking place this week. Actually, every week, somewhere across the country, there is a camp taking place and we are receiving testimonies over and over again of how God is working in the lives of children. One CEF worker recently wrote:
R’s parents are divorced. She and her brother were always separated and often witnesses to legal (and not so legal) battles. Her father (who recently has received full custody) wanted her to attend a Good News Club camp this year. During the camp, R (9 years of age) asked to talk to one of the CEF worker and said, “It is wonderful! I have trusted in the Lord Jesus. Now you are my brother!”
As well as R, there are many other children who do not know God – and are attending camp now, or are planning to attend. Some children attended camp in an accidental way, for example A from Bucharest. A had never heard the Gospel before, but he was spending his holidays at his grandparents in a village where there is a Good News Club. One of the girls who was supposed to come was sick and so A was invited by his cousin to attend a Christian camp. It is difficult to explain his reaction but it was encouraging to see how God worked in his heart and after 3 days of Bible lessons, devotional times and other activities, A said, “My RE teacher made me not really like religion. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t understand it. You explain it and we as children can understand. I have started to believe that God is not as far away as I thought He was and I realized that He really does care when children are sad.”
May God be praised for the way that He uses CEF camps to change the lives of children. You can read more about camp ministry and how to support a child to attend camp here.
