In a family photo frame, we would probably see our dear family members. In a photo frame after a trip up the mountains, we might see the beautiful scenery and the people who we were with. If it was a picture from a museum, we might see all the items that are displayed for the visitors to see.
However, in the picture frame of a celebration, what would we see? Maybe the person whose birthday it is, or a beautiful cake, or lots of happy people.
When we think of celebrating the birth of the Lord Jesus, it is hard to describe the picture that we see before us – a crazy hunt for presents, silly songs, and a concentration of effort and resources on things that will pass away. Often, taking time to think about the birth of the Saviour is the last thing on the list.
Children need to understand why the Lord came to earth and the difference that this event makes to them. This month we want to remind children of the true Christmas Picture and the celebrations that are coming.
As well as the unchanged Word of God that we will be taking to children (face to face where possible, and online when and where it is not possible to meet), we would like to to give every child a small gift as we remind them of the greatest gift that God has given. We will also find a way to give a gift to the children who watch the programmes online.
Church members and volunteers in the area are going to be preparing 500 gifts for children.
This project includes the boxes and bags for the gifts, travel and other costs connected to the project.
